English as an Additional Language
At Brandling Primary school we use the Young Interpreter Scheme to provide training to some of our pupils to develop the skills needed to help new arrivals with English as an Additional Language.
Once they have completed their training our Young Interpreters help newly-arrived pupils feel welcome and settled into our school. The structured training sessions develop the confidence, communication and leadership skills of the Young Interpreters. It is just one of the ways we demonstrate how we value multilingualism and cultural diversity in our setting making sure all of our children and families feel that they are a valued and respected part of our school and the wider community.
