Fine Motor Skills

Fine motor skills involve the use of the small muscles that control the hand, fingers, and thumb.

They help children perform important tasks like feeding themselves, grasping toys, buttoning and zipping clothes, writing, drawing, and more. Fine motor skills gradually build for children as they do activities to help strengthen their muscles and coordination. Fine and Gross Motor Skills are crucial for children to excel in PE throughout their education.

Lego Therapy @ Brandling

Here are some Y2 children who have been in a Lego Therapy group to help improve Fine Motor Skills. This intervention not only enhanced social and communication skills but also improved hand-eye coordination. This will then feed back into PE lessons for when the children are catching and throwing and helps with spacial awareness.

EYFS -Gross Motor Skills Equipment

EYFS enjoy using lots of PE equipment to help engage and support the development of balance, coordination and control. Active play  enhances children's fine and gross motor skills.
