Sports Premium

PE at Brandling

PE and school sport are vitally important elements of the curriculum at Brandling Primary School.

We believe that PE and school sport contribute to the rounded development of our children and, through participation, our children build and develop key life skills; respect, teamwork, honesty, co-operation and resilience.

Over the past year, we have had a big focus on raising the profile of PE and Sport in school and out of school.

Using the PE and Sport Premium

In line with Ofsted recommendations, published October 2018, our Sport Premium Funding is to be spent addressing improvements in each of the following 5 key indicators.

Increase the engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity - the Chief Medical Officer guidelines recommend that all children and young people aged 5-18 engage in at least 60 minutes go physical activity a day, of which 30 minutes should be in school.

  • The profile of PE and sport is raised across the school as a tool for whole-school improvement.
  • Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport
  • Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils
  • Increased participation in competitive sport
  • Allocation of PE and Sport Premium Grant

The PE and Sport Premium is designed to help primary schools improve the quality of the PE and sport activities they offer their pupils. Our school has been granted £17, 610 for 2023-2024 which will be used to improve sports within our school.
